I can't speak for HST, but if it can reasonably be expected to build out a computer or home network, it is likely OK. Especially if it is clearly "cleaning out the closet" stuff.

Takes a computer to run Home Automation doesn't it??? (loop hole)

The intention was to provide a forum for getting rid of H.A. stuff you've used but don't need anymore.

2-3 years ago built (remotely) a combo Linux Homeseer server, CCTV server, weather station, media server and NAS for a Homeseer user using an LSi Raid controller.

It was an almost duplicate of my newest 8 drive NAS box as the user built it based a post from a few years back.

It is still running fine today (with two other over the counter purchased 4-5 drive NAS boxes)

That said what Jeff is selling can be used as a Homeseer server combo NAS box.

There are folks building HS now on containers or virtual boxes that you can run using NAS software.
