microsoft store in win8.1

Ok so my wife bought me a new Windows Surface Pro 2...

so it came with $25 promotion code for the store. What sucks is you cant use that to purchase the media center pack... for $10..

looking through the store.. it all looks like junk... stuff i just dont need and feel it is a ll a waste of money.. but that is me..

is there anything you guys are using you have found is a nice app for windows 8.1?

oh so had to enter code by 2/28.... and $25 expires in 120 days.. dont use it you loose it... WTH!!!!

worst case is it shows up on my xbox.. ill drop that onto some add on packs or something...

I'll be curious as to how you like the surface pro 2 after using it a bit. I need a new laptop for work and was looking at the as a nice sort of hybrid tablet that also runs computer programs that I need.

I would hope the store gets better over time, I hope anyway.

well first of all... screen is smaller than my acer extensa 5620..... so that is being a bit difficult.

I dont have the optional keyboard yet...

wife was going to get me the galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition but it is still just a tablet and i cant run photoshop or lightroom.... so i still need a winderz based unit.


now overall... im getting great time with it.. 4-5hrs battery... SUPER FAST!!!!

i clicked ok and it was done.. wow super fast..

I have the 4gb/128gb ssd unit... checking online it says possible to open to put a bigger drive in but heat gun to remove screen!!!!! then 53 screws to remove mobo... ugh....

this was $1100 i think... the 8gb/512gb unit is like $1800 at bestbuy.. maybe worth it but not in my price range right now...

it is a bit heavy @ 2lbs vs a ipad or android tablet...

all in all im really pleased with it.. and agree with you on the store part...

i have google chrome on it and trying to read pages.. cant expand like on my android phone or ipad with the fingers so maybe im missing something but that is challenging...

oh also i have been running windows 8 then windows 8.1 on my acer for about 6 months now... so it was seamless for me to go to the surface other than no keyboard!!!!

Sounds promising, I use a small screen Asus laptop now, I'm not looking for a larger screen so I'm fine with that. Since I don't really carry it with me all the time the weight isn't really a factor either. I guess mostly I liked that it could be used as a tablet for somethings but still have the ability to run the desktop programs I need to have with me.

so update.. this thing is lightning fast!!!!!!!!

battery time is great... even better in power saver mode.. which im running as it is faster than anything I have ever had or need right now... getting 8hrs of constant use in power saving mode!!!!!!!!!!

guess ill let my oldest choose $25 worth of games or addons for current games to eat up the $25 as it will go away if I dont...
