HA lowers house price -what else

Ok so I have used Homeseer to control lights when the kids leave them on/off... also controls fish tank... all the cool stuff that has been done...

I just wanted to say I think im growing up... never thought I would...

I drive to work (62 miles) each way... then kids street hockey (10mi each way), travel soccer (5mi-50mi each way) and MMA (8mi each way)
    x 2 kids

now not all 3 are done each day but..

2013 GMC Sierra Z-92 lifted by ALC sitting on 35's

    love the truck...
    bought it 3/21/2013
put 41k miles on it already!!! YES 41k!!!!!

so just started doing the math...
    car payment $500/mo + ($600-$650/mo) gas....
now I can afford it but that is simply: 1. Stupid, 2. Selfish, 3. Ridiculous....
    and many more...

I now know why tree huggers hug that tree!!!! that tree could turn into the cash that they are saving.....

driving my GMC is actually saying.. I dont want a throwaway car as my gas bill costs MORE than the car + gas!!!!! and still have green left...

    so with that..
my new ride is now making me want to hug trees...

Wow. For $1100 a month have you considered moving You could take half of that and rent an apartment as well. We are spoiled. I live 11 miles from work and my daughter just asked me last week why we live so far from work This is much better than that commute from Manassas, Virgina to DC everyday to work. I'll ever miss that.

Working from home, no driving but it takes so much motivation to leave the house!

Yup... gotto love the hybrids. I bought a Kia Optima Hybrid LX last year and while the car is bigger than the Prius, it gets outstanding mileage. 5.3-5.4 ltr/100 km. I save serious green compared to my Van. Another bonus is that I only need to fill my tank once a month. Saves time too...
It also has homelink built in (X-10), so I can turn off/on my alarm panel.

I just moved further away from work and I am feeling the gas pain. My commute is about 100 miles round trip. I love the new house and location, and honestly, the commute isn't much worse than my previous commute (about 20 minutes longer, but much less traffic) - I am looking to cut back on the gas bill, though.

                        This might be the answer...

Here in California, our tax loving legislature is considering passing a bill (SB 1077) which would replace the gas tax with a tax based on miles you drive. They previously passed measures encouraging motorists to switch to alternative energy vehicles. As a result, gas tax revenues are down. So the people driving hybrids, electrics, NGVs and whatever else they dream up will get hit with that tax.
They haven't said how they will determine the number of miles you drive but I would guess that you'd have to report it when you renew your registration.
