Is HomeSeer a dead product?

Although I bought an HS4 upgrade, I had to revert to HS3 because of inadequate support for Z-Wave devices in HS4.

Withings announced a new method of authorisation last year and the transition period expired a few days ago. No attempt has been made to support the Withings plugin, and it is now completely broken.

Is the source code for abandoned plugins open-source, so at least somebody might have an attempt to update them.

Oddly enough, the Alexa plugin seems to have failed for the same reason.

Meanwhile, can somebody recommend a replacement for HomeSeer, with more professional support. Where, for instance, developers actually read (and respond to) the support forums.

Not that I'm aware of. You can take a look at other solutions (products and projects), but I think you'll find it's mostly the same everywhere.

I've moved about 95% of my automation to Home Assistant, and while Home Assistant offers a lot more then HomeSeer IMO, it is simply not as robust at this point. HomeSeer is a product while Home Assistant is a project.

For sure HomeSeer is not dead. Anew beta was released a few days ago. I reported a issue for one of my plug-ins today and it was immediately fixed.

Not a lot of use since I'm on HS3.

I presume that you mean Big5.

Considering the amount of data that my collection of Withings devices produce, it''s probably not worth the effort of learning to manage a Big5 interface.

In practical terms, I was only using the Withings plugin to get my home-built 'Dementia Clock', that is integrated with HomeSeer and a Stream Deck, to remind me to take my blood pressure each day.




i was hoping that the righthand-side (which displays variable data or CCTV controlled by the Stream Deck) could show all of the Withings data, but maybe I'll forget that option now. The bottom panel uses variable text and colour to display the state of my home automation. e.g. Whether the TV automatically pauses when I walk out of the room, or whether I need to take my medication.

This clock is a secondary monitor on the Windows computer running HS3, and the programs currently communicate via the Windows registry. The registry stops me from switching to Home Assistant, but I suppose that I could always switch to UDP multicasts instead, which would then mean that I could use separate computers with different OS's. That would also allow me to have multiple clocks in different rooms.

I should probably convert the clock to run on its own dedicated Raspbery-Pi, and use UDP multicasts with an HS3 plugin. However, I'm getting a bit too old now to develop a marketable product, and developed the clock because of my failing memory, and while I could still remember how to program.

Apologies if I'm rambling (and you're still reading this far), but that's what old age does for you.

Big 6 is only avaliable for HS4 and add supports for 5 major authentication methods.
