  • Z-Wave or FS20?

    Hello Board,

I've evaluated HS and X10 about a year ago and found out that X10 is hard to implement in an existing german electrical wiring (3 phases and so on). So I left it alone for a while...
Now I heard about Z-Wave and googled a bit and found FS20. FS20 is something like Z-Wave and it also operates on 868MHz. As Z-Wave products for europe are very limited and the ICOM products are beeing released later this year, I am now thinking of FS20. There are multiple modules that are already available. Here's a short list of available modules (there are more, but these are the most interesting):

    FS20 ST RF Appliance Module
    FS20DI RF Dimmer Module
    FS20 S4A RF Wall Switch
FS20 DU RF In-Wall Dimmer Module
FS20 SU RF In-Wall Appliance Module
    FS20 S20 10/20 adresses Remote Control
FS20 AS4 4 port out door Appliance Module
    FHT 8b RF Temperature Controller
    FS20 PIRI RF Motion Sensor
HMS100 TFK RF Door / Window Sensor
    HMS100 T RF Temperature Sensor
HMS100 TF RF Temperature and Humidity Sensor
    HMS100-RM RF Fire Alarm
    FS20 SD RF Dawn Sensor
    HMS100 W RF Water sensor
    FS20 RPT RF Repeater
FS20 RST RF Window-Shutter (is that the right word?) Control
    PCF-RS1 Computer RF Control Unit
F 812 Stand alone programmable Control Unit

They're operating at 220 Volts and 50 Hz and most modules use the "SchuKo" plug. They have their own control software, but I would prefer HS to control my enviroment. The Computer RF controler has a serial interface and it should not be to hard to develop a plugin for HS. So now I thinking of using this instead of waiting for Z-Wave products in Europe... Any comments?

    Cheers,

    Michael

PS: I don't want to sell anything nor am I a reseller or something. I just want to hear what you think about this technologie...

In the following product catalogue you can find an english description of some FS20 modules and the technologie itself:

Hi Michael, I found your thread when I search for FS20.

I found the new products on the company Conrad that have open here in Sweden, I belewe that is a German company.

    Have you tried it yet?

I have not found any plugin here but if I buy it I will try to develop a FS20 plugin.

    Cheers
    /Tony

      Pc Interface Fhz 1000 Pc

      Hello,

I also ran on this thread, I;m living in the Netherlands and also find out that Conrad is having these FS20 devices. I was searching for a Way to controll heating in my central heating house.

FS20 has it al, i even found a "PC INTERFACE FHZ 1000 PC" interface so if someone is willing to develop the plugin for HomeSeer that would be great.

I'm not a programmer myself but maybe someone can help?

      Best Regards Tom

Its in german, but they offer both a command line and a .dll interface.
So it should be possible to define a interface.

Not shure if this is any help at all, I just use babelfish to translate the webpage and the pdf in the dll files.

                Hi everyone,

I also stumbled onto the conrad/ELV FS20 stuff and would love to be able to hook this into Homeseer. Especially the heating stuff with the radiator valves would be a great addition.

also pricelevels for the ELV stuff seems to be fair.

Has anyone succeeded yet in working these from Homeseer ?

                Thanks,

                Evja

Not shure if that is possible to find out the serial data between the fhz1000 and the orginal windows controlsoftware with a serial port sniffer.
I have the fullversion of http://www.aggsoft.com/serial-port-monitor.htm but no fhz1000 to try. The software working perfekt on other equipments.
Here is the USB version of the sniffer http://www.usb-port-monitor.com/

Did anyone ever write a plugin for FS20 ? It looks like they have a lot of different units, but without a HS plugin it not usable for much :-)

                            Is this thread dead?
I was hopping that someone developed the HS plugin.
Conrad products are cheap and they have many products.

From the translated documentation, it seems that a key must be ordered to use the dll more than 10 days.

On my side, I chose to go with PLCBUS to replace X10. Many European shops just started to sell this new technology.
