    Echo for Dummies

I need to understand how HomeKit works.

I have a new Schlage lock that is interfaced to HomeKit thru an Ipad
I have the new HUE hub that is interfaced as above
I have many HUE Bulbs thru the Hub
    standard HS devices

What is the best way to be able to " Talk " and Track w/ HS ??
too many threads for an old guy

What do I need to load / program ?

For the Hue hub I just use the Hue hub with Echo for voice control and poll the lights with HomeSeer. I use HomeSeer with the JowiHue plugin to control the lights by means other than voice control. My Schlage locks are controlled by HomeSeer and the Z-wave interface. I go with the theory that voice control for external door locks isn't a good idea but you could use the skill that can be accessed through the Alexa app, the same way you linked up the Hue hub if you want voice control for the locks. I do control the garage door that way. That requires "tell HomeSeer to" and runs events rather than controls devices. I don't know it's the best way, just the way I did it. It has worked consistently as described for a long time now without any tinkering.

I could provide details if you like.

looks like the " Tell Homeseer to " is the only way to go with my stuff. PIA, like the skill without, but I have lots of toys
