Is it always daytime in my home?

OK, I have an event that is only supposed to fire when it has manually been executed and it is daytime. The thing is, it executes when it is night time as well!

Can someone help me understand what may be wrong with my event, and why it runs when it isn't supposed to?

When you trigger an event manually it will ignore the conditions. You can trigger it from another event, but you have to check the checkbox to respect the conditions in the calling event.
