Comcast ISP outages near Chicago - Tue 29th of August 2017

Yesterday had an outage here in the midwest which occurred around 1500c.

Lasted 30 minutes and came back around 1530c.

    Issues are intermittent here:

Poor upload and download speeds, outages, ping times.

Still really bad this morning with maybe 3-4MBs downloads and less than 1MBs uploads. Ping times vary and are poor.

Modem (Motorola SB6141) signals look fine here so I am attributing issues to Comcast back end.

Anyone else see issues this morning. Down detector is showing many issues this morning with Comcast in general across the USA.

I am also seeing issues with secondary Internet connection using T-Mobile here. Looks to be that they are using Comcast fiber.

We had an Comcast outage in my area on Sunday that lasted about 4 hours. (Aurora a suburb of Denver). Once it was restored, it was normal.

But I will say, it gave an strange feeling to know the whole area was down. Things were just a little too quite .

      Wierd.

Testing locally seeing 100Mbs downloads and .2 Mbs uploads locally.

I have never seen .2MBs upload speeds. Always been around 15Mbs here.

Testing with Toast dot net any host max downloads are 5Mbs.

DSL reports showed a burst of almost 100Mbs and then final results were:

Note this is the first time I have ever seen this with Comcast / DSL Reports speed test.

Whilst I am on FiOS, I just used Speedtest against a Comcast endpoint in NJ and see fairly typical numbers for my 'Gig' service:

        Ping: 4ms
        Download: 655 Mbps
        Upload: 875 Mbps

Also just tried Comcast Chicago as an endpoint. Longer ping at 24ms (which I guess is to be expected), but only marginally slower DL/UL speeds.

Seeing some very odd numbers now:

            Speedtest beta shows:

Which is what I am used to seeing.

Bad here in NE Florida, too.

Comcast is out currently in NE Florida. It has been intermittently out for the past couple of weeks. Comcast support indicated it was due to "upgrading" their equipment.

Seems to be coming back this afternoon...ping times slow, amazon and MS cloud were slow, google was fast.

Might do a nightly speedtest thing with a creation of variables plus a jpg.

Tonight tested the speedtest python script. Works well.
