Just wanted to inform that I have integrated HS3 with Shairport-Sync as an Airplay receiver.
SPS runs on both Linux and Windows. Windows via Cygwin.
I am running it on the same Windows 7 machine as HS3 with good performance.
SPS provides full metadata and transport control over avahi and dbus.
On windows, permissions for dbus are a bit tricky and transport control is currently under development
Today I have scripts for:
- setting up the devices
- communication between SPS and HS3
- handling meta data consistently from all sorts of sources to populate the devices.
Making scripts for transport control for a Linux implementation should be quite easy. (4-5 straight commands.)
If anyone is interested, I would be glad to provide my code as is or as an embryo for a plugin.
