Why would a sensor report so often and so erratically?

===> Not solved but at least FIXED...=<====

Just curious if anyone sees this type of thing in their log. Several sensors of various types and brands are reporting erratic battery levels. This HST door sensor is particularly noisy so I'm using it here, but probably 30% of my battery powered sensors report similar changes, just not as often. Anyone else see this or know why they do this?

The issue is that it will report for months that it is above 50% (or even 100%!) and then die so there is no real good way to be proactive. Some of these sensors I rely on to work, and they do, until they don't. My events that report a low battery on a device are basically worthless because they sometimes trigger day two after a fresh battery is installed and the battery is actually at 100%.....

    Any ideas?

How often did you set the battery to report. It should be controllable in the Z-wave tab of the root device in settings. The voltage sensor could be bad in the device?? Li batteries -- Could be seeing deterioration in the battery itself?? Corroded contacts??

All just guesses as to the cause.

Good guesses. These are door sensors and I think the default (and what their set at) is 12 hours, but they are battery powered so they can't really be polled. It reports itself. They seem to be self-reporting every 20 minutes. Pretty odd.

So it seems to have been just a few devices that failed to include properly and/or completely. I woke up and rescanned the offending sensors and the every-twenty-minute reporting of power has stopped Dot no know the cause.
