How to add devices that can monitor energy consumption to the energy database?

How can I add devices (wallplug with power monitoring) to the energy database? Do I need a special plugin for that?
The idea would be to have an idea of the amount of energy used by a certain device each hour of the day.

The devices are detected correctly by HS3 and they even show the amount of kW used or the amount of watts currently used. However, none of these devices are showing up in my View->Energy page.

I was following this because I had the same problem. Then, I rebooted the system about a month later for patching and they magically appeared in the database after that.
