I want to put a LED light strip on the TV at the back that can cast different lights. I do have phillips hue bulbs and I have been looking at those but they are expensive. Are there any suggestions for something else? Has to be able to be run by HS of course.

i do this quite a bit. you can use any RGBW strip from Amazon.... i usually get something complete that includes the power adapter and control unit (that you'll throw away... but will need the power adapter.
Then attach the RGBW strip to either a Fibaro or a Quibino RGB zwave module, using the power adapter... and include into network.
I've been using Fibaro, that ends up creating a bunch of devices that can be kind of confusing.... think others here having luck with the Quibino.
To be clear, i don't change colors dynamically with the show i'm watching... which IMO would actually be irritating. But i use HS to change to a color based on an event, etc.
lights: something like this:

either one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/FIBARO-RGBW-C...2934806&sr=8-1
https://www.amazon.com/Qubino-Z-Wave...2934866&sr=8-9
Looks like this:

Agree with Tomgru guidance on the LED strips. Many options available. Amazon always has lightning deals on these.
For the controller the WiFi units are much more cost effective than the Zwave. Something like the Shelly RGBW2 is a good choice for $26 at Wallmart. Something like the Sonoff Basic or similar could be used with 3rd party firmware. This drives cost down to $5 for the controller. mcsMQTT and mcsShelly can be used for either of these as the HS plugin now. I don't know if Alexbk66 has the RGBW2 in his plugin, but if not it should be coming in the future if not.
You may also find that a $14 color bulb or two https://www.amazon.com/Shelly-Dimmab...935676&sr=8-10 will satisfy your need and make for an easy install if you have room behind the TV for a standard bulb socket. Don't need to worry about a controller as it is built into the bulb. Controlled directly from HS via mcsShelly, mcsMQTT or potentially other plugins https://forums.homeseer.com/forum/li...ifi-color-bulb

This is very useful info. So I could use these as well? https://www.amazon.ca/Z-Wave-Dimmer-...2981770&sr=8-2
These are nice little controllers. I have one of these controlling my deck lights. Paired nicely with HS and seems to work well. I didn't realize that this would be so easy! Tomgru do these strips bend or cut? How do you go around the corners?

you can cut these strips ...there are cut lines on where to do it on the strip. Usually every few inches.
Look up LED strip connectors on Amazon...get a kit with a few different kinds. They work well but can take some patience and cutting to fit.

A little more DIY than the other ideas but instead of using a Zwave controller you could cut cost and use a NodeMCU and control with MQTT and HS. Same RGB light strip will work. Go with the 5 volt version strip and you don't have to worry about power converting. With a 12V strip you would as the nodeMCU runs off 5V power so you would have to use a cheap buck converter. Basically 20.00 or less for a 5V strip, couple of dollars for a NodeMCU and a cheap DC power supply is really all you need besides a project enclosure if you wanted it all pretty and maybe some soldering skills.

For most applications which are hidden and 1/4” clearance a more reliable and cheaper way to handle corners is with a 270 degree bend. This way you do not break the copper trace and do not have the stress that often affects adhesive vs a 90 degree bend or fold.
Using Shelly RGBW2 and mcsShelly is no more DIY than any of the Zwave solutions where you still need to connect the wires from the strip to power and data. Total cost is 50% of the Zwave approach. For the harder core DIY then just flash the controller that comes with the light strip with Tasmota, use mcsMQTT for the plugin and total cost is only the cost of the Amazon (or wherever) purchase of the light strip kit. Magic home is a common controller that can be reflashed. Any other ESP8285/ESP8266 will work as well.

Tomgru I bought the govee led lights and the zooz controller. I cut the controller off of the govee lights and I have 4 wires. Red, green, black and wihite. I can't figure out which wires go into the RGB + 12+V on the controller. I have black in the 12+ and Red in Red, Green in Green and White in Blue but it isn't working. Can you help?

Do a Google search for "Hyperion" and Spud has a great plugin for it: https://forums.homeseer.com/forum/li...on-spud?f=1193HS 4.2.8.0: 2134 Devices 1252 Events
