    iPad screen activity

    Hey all

What do we all do when we have wall mounted units?
All fine if they are permanently on so screen updates etc. can be displayed or heard.
Problem if you let the screen time out and go off as event could be missed.

I have noticed ( mine are all powered by poe ) that when power is disconnected and then reconnected the screen comes alive again.

So possibly 'an event' could do that to make sure the screen is lit.

I'm sure others have got far better solutions...

Read this : https://www.progressivehomeautomatio...me-automation/ And of course I do have an iPAD and also have HSTouch loaded on it but hardly ever use it (Used only if my media remote battery needs charging) The rest of the tablets are Android and boy! they can multi task. They are always on with weather screen savers and come alive by motion sensors (The events to wake them up are MQTT)
You can create a multitude of automatons using Tasker, Join,Autoapps and Mqtt. So you dream it then .....................and then some!

Tip : You want camera pop up floating (security cams) windows ? You go it! : https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...r.pro&hl=en_GB

The article is a bit unfair .
My iPads are poe so no Wi-Fi issues or charging issues . I expect them to break at some point hence bought gen 4 ones from eBay . I’m guessing the easiest option might be to ‘knock’ the power via HA just to get the screen on .
So your Android tablets will screen sleep then as you approach will turn on ?

      Cheers

Sure! but not even sleep because they have live screen savers showing weather. And Android does not fully sleep because they can have apps/processes running in the background! (That's why the IOS battery lasts longer because it does not have apps in the background but can store them in memory to wake them up when needed but that's not a plus because it's not Automation!)

Something tells me you might be hinting at using Android for wall mounted tablets instead 😎
