    Garage doors

You guys that are automating your garage doors. Can you get the status while it is the process of opening and closing, or just when it is open or closed? Am working with mainlobby and would be a cool grafic to show while it is opening or closeing, not just when it is open or closed.
    Thanx
    Tim

fungun, I posted an animated swf on Cinemar's forum with a garage door opening (and closed state). I use it triggered by garage door contacts switching my Napco 9600 alarm panel, to Napco HS plugin, to Homeseer, to MLHSPlugin, to MainLobby graphic swap.

To do the interm states while the door is opening is kinda overkill. Many sensors (rotary one tied to the spring balance bar via a pulley setup?), many device codes, much chat on the network.

Like your garage doors. Can you do one in White? single wide and a double wide? If you post the moving .gif, I'll convert and post to a swf.thanx

          How 'bout this?

Put a sensor in the 'Door Closed' position, and another in the 'Door Open' position.

When the door is 'In Transit' the sensors will report neither closed nor open...

In industral valve setups, when a valve is closed a micro switch opens making the open light go out. When the valve is open a limit switch is opened making the closed light go out. When the valve is in the intermediate position, both the open and closed lights are lit. You could generate logic to display the three states. You would have to know the last position (open or closed) prior to the move command to generate a current direction of travel. Probably doable if you have pretty quick feedback from the microswitches changing state.
Why I like my 2005 rio yellow Honda S2000 with the top down, and more!

Just put contact closures at the open and close point and use the "changed to off" and "changed to on" event triggers plus some logic to determine if the door is opening or closing.

                    Garage Door Flash Animation

Here is a garage door animation that I did some time back with Swish. The first .swf file is the door opening, and the second is the door closing.

This door is just one I found using a Google image search. It was either do that, or set up the tripod, and take 20 pictures as the door opened and then animate it

This was much easier, and dosent show all the junk in the garage when the door is opened

I have two magnetic sensors (well three, one is for my security system) on the garage door. One to detect fully open, one to detect fully closed. I have these hooked into a single input on my ADI SECU16 and use an Ocelot to control the door.

Based on previous history I know if the door is open fully, closed fully, opening, closing, or stopped somewhere in between. Also know the last direction the door moved. While its moving I don't know exactly where it is, but it takes about 12 seconds for the door to open or close. After 15 seconds if neither of the sensors is tripped, I assume the door is stopped (either because someone pressed the button to stop it, told the Ocelot to stop it (effectively doing the same thing)).
