  • Need help installing Homebridge on Zee 2 (nodeJS)

I am having trouble installing NodeJS. I have a Zee2 running Jesse.

When I run "sudo apt-get install -y nodejs gcc g++ make python" I get:

"Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or have moved out of incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
    nodejs : Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 5.2) but 4.9.2-10+deb8u2 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages."

Googling shows others have had this problem but I did not see a solution that I understood other than upgrading to Stretch or Buster (which I am afraid to do for fear of screwing up Homeseer).

Currently it shows that nodejs 0.10.29~dfag-2 is installed.

    Anybody have a solution? Thanks.

I would leave that box alone!

So run it in Docker? Interesting idea. But when I go to the link the first thing it says is "Get the latest copy of Raspbian Buster Lite." And when I go to the separate link for installing Docker, it says to install Raspbian Buster.

      https://github.com/oznu/docker-homeb...n-Raspberry-Pi

And when I go to this link about installing Docker it says a prerequisite is Raspbian Stretch light,

      https://phoenixnap.com/kb/docker-on-raspberry-pi

Will docker work with Jessie? Thanks.

The second link is an image file.

Have you seen this? : https://github.com/homebridge/homebr...n-image#readme

Have you got a Synology NAS? It's the easiest to install.

Nope, no NAS. If I am understanding the links they talk about downloading Homebridge including a Raspbian image with it and then putting the card into the Raspberry PI. To do that I would have to pull the existing SD card out of my Zee2 and Homeseer would be gone with the card.

          What am I missing? Thanks.

            Don't!!

Did you clearly read my first post? I said I would leave the Zee alone! As you won't get any help from HomeSeer if things go wrong.

You need a spare Raspberry PI

Oh. I thought you just meant don't upgrade the OS on the Zee. If I install Homebridge on a separate PI how will it talk to Homeseer. I thought the point was to make Homekit interface with Homeseer.

I haven't gone through all this : https://github.com/jvmahon/Homebridge-HomeSeer4 but think the author of the plugin has got it listed.

Another one : https://github.com/jvmahon/homebridge-homeseer4/wiki And the author will best help if you post in his forum

If you can still see this : https://github.com/jvmahon/Homebridge-HomeSeer4/wiki/Setting-Up-Your-Config.json-file the HomeBridge can be on another device unless I see it differently (cross eyed! )

                    Look at F.2.

I have installed but not played with it. I think it's similar to the JeeDom Plugin for HomeSeer but in the opposite direction (Here it's the HomeSeer devices imported into HomeBridge. But for JeeDom, the devices are imported into HomeSeer).............Someone correct me
