I'll also mention that they make bilge pumps for boats that have a float switch that turns on when the the water rises. They also shut off the the level gets low. They all run pretty much on 12 volts.

What is the fun in that???
If it is worth doing, it is worth overdoing!
Why make it simple when you can make it overly complicated

You could always add an automated valve but I didn't feel it was worth it.
hope this helps,

Guest replied1/2 shower head style.
i use an adapter to connect to the water hose and a small lenght of shower hose to dump water in the pool.
the bottom of the valve sets the water level. (Water stops about 1/2 of the valve's height)
You can find similar models with pipe connectors on top, etc. if needed.

Huh, that's a simple and good low tech implementation. I was overthinking this. It's kind of the toilet tank storage. Does this device attach to a water hose (3/4") or to a 1/2" pipe in which case I would need an adapter? I didn't see this in the specs. The thread also seems pretty short. I am not sure it would fit through a water reservoir like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...NWTFEQMX&psc=1 I assume you don't have that in a box but instead it is in the open with the pipes directly connected to it (one supplying water and the other one dumping water into the pond).

Water Sensor for Pondless River
I am creating a little "dry river" but will put something at the beginning of the "dry river" that actually has water that seems to flow into the "dry river" (but doesn't because it just falls down and then is pumped right back). I don't want to constantly monitor the water level to assure the pump actually has water to pump to the water source. Instead I want to automate this by somehow measuring the water level. When the water drops below a certain level I want to automatically fill the reservoir to a certain level, either based on time or a second water sensor. Has anybody done something like that? Any input is appreciated.Tags: None
