So I'm considering buying a couple of handle door locks for a couple of key rooms in my house. I do have a z-wave kwikset one already, as well as kwikset deadbolts on the exterior doors, and have been fairly happy with them. However, looking towards future proofing, perhaps I should consider something newer than just a z-wave lock - There seems to be a number of fingerprint/bluetooth etc. locks becoming available. Anyone have any experience with anything worth considering?

As with any newish technology consider reliability and alternative methods to access the device. ie a keypad or key in addition to a fingerprint or bluetooth access method.
I do not have direct experience; but I am also interested in bluetooth locks etc. I've looked closely at the kwikset kevo2 series. Some issues I've heard of; bluetooth is very cool when it works, but can be positional, finicky etc. To me a lock technology needs to be 100% so the reports I've read are discouraging.
I've not done any research into current fingerprint locks since they haven't been high on my wishlist but I use my fingerprint sensor on my phone quite a bit. Fingerprint sensors are nice but can be an issue if you work with your hands, labor may alter your fingerprint enough that it doesn't read properly. With that said, I have a white collar job and my phone fingerprint sensor never seems to have any trouble so I'm not as worried on that front.HS4 Pro on Shuttle NC10U, Win10; Z-NET

(How's this for a late reply? )
Indeed, there needs to be options that can, at least when combined, work to 100%. For that, my Kwikset locks are pretty great. If I was smart, I'd simply buy a few of those to keep going and call it a day.
But I'm not always smart and have B.E.S. (Bleeding Edge Syndrome). I figure that the appropriate lock should have, at a minimum, fingerprint, bluetooth, and key backup available. In a better world, also have z-wave or some other easy way to tie directly in to HS. In an amazing world, all those plus perhaps a keypad as well. Hey, why not. Ultraloq seems to have one that fits the bill, but it looks like it may be pretty bulky (probably can't get away from bulky to get a keypad and fingerprint scanner in there). Might be ok in that regard but if anyone has actually used it I'd be interested to know how it plays out....

As an aside; Fingerprint access won't work for me as I have almost no discernible fingerprints. I only discovered this when I was working on a project that required security clearance. It was a project involving *************** in *******. The person who was taking my prints joked that I had missed my calling. I should have pursued a career as a super-villain. Oh well, missed opportunity. 😀
