Orphaned devices Check Event/Script?

After seeing that my Ambient Weather plugin has created new devices for several of the values it provides, I've decided to create an event/script combination that regularly scans all devices to see if it's happened and send me an alert.

Before I start from scratch I'm wondering if anyone has created something like this they'd be willing to share? It's not an uncommon occurance, I especially see this with Z-wave child devices after a rescan or changing batteries.

I wonder if you can read the device table from HomeSeerData.hsd database and use SQLQuery to do the heavy lifting. I think this would be more compute friendly.

That's a reasonable thought. Honestly my system is relatively stable in changes so maybe using Jon00 utilities to list devices and do a diff would be an easy route.
