Using alarm sensors for motion detection?

    Hello all,

I'm very new to homeseer and this forum. I'm really surprised about the
    funcionality of homeseer.

I was wondering if it's possible to use the marmitek ms90 or ms20 (that came with my sc2800 alarm kit) as a motion detector to switch lights on/off in case
    of occupancy.
Marmitek also produces dedicated units (ih8070) for motion detection but
they're unable to tell the sc2800 to switch on the alarm, so I'm looking for
motion a unit that support both: alarm + motion detection.

    Thanks,
    Richard

    Using security stuff

I do not know about the ih8070, so you are left on your own there.

I do know that you will need a W800 (W800RF32AE) as a reciever before you are able to recieve the RF signals of the security products. Many dutch people order this from intellihome or directly for the W800RF32AE. This in turn means you will need to keep a PC running 24 hours a day/7 days a week. The product is not cheep (Eur 99,95), but most peoply on this board are lyrical about this reciever (I do not own one myself). Other recievers are not capable of recieving the radio signals from the security products.

Veel succes met de automatisering van je huis!

    Regards,

    Richard

      Thanks Richard.

I bought the W800 at intellihome. (Like the rest of my stuff )
It worked out of the box and I'm indeed capable to capture data from
      secure devices.
And guess what happened today? A "dead" CM11a
I know this device is going to sleep so now and then after not receiving
any x10 data for a while, so trying to revive it.
Having it unplugged from power and PC without batteries for a few hours
and HS recognizes it again. Then after sending 1 X10 command makes it
      go to sleep again :-(
I guess it needs some more time to sleep so I'll leave it overnight and try again tomorrow.
Do you (or anyone else) know of a good and reliable alternative? I hear
people talking about the ocelot being more reliable. But it's quite expensive.

      Cheers,
      Richard

        ribihome,
The Powerlinc USB computer interface is a nice replacement. I switched a while back from a CM11A to the Powerlinc and it's worked flawlessly ever since.
