    HS4 + Aqara WSDCGQ01LM Temp/Humid Sensor

    Hello,

    I have a HS4 setup with a HUSBZB-1 zigbee/z-wave stick.

I am new to Z-wave and Zigbee and recently deployed a few Z-wave light bulbs. Now I want to get a few temp & humidity sensors to play with so I purchased an Aqara WSDCGQ01LM sensor off Amazon to test with. I read mixed reviews on Amazon regarding this being a true Zigbee compliant device. But sometimes on Amazon the reviews aren't always directly associated with the particular model your looking at, if there are several options available.

Ether way, I now have the WSDCGQ01LM in my hands and am wondering how I get this paired (if in fact it can be)? I read on the forums here of other guys using them, but being a noob, maybe I am missing something.

I went into the "Plugins>ZigBee>Add Zigbee Device" portion of HS4 and tried searching for the WSDCGQ01LM after hitting the reset button and also holding the reset button for 5 seconds. No luck.

Any help would be appreciated. Even if someone tells me that this won't work.

Can anyone help me with this?

I went and bought a different sensor (SONOFF SNZB-02) and can't get this one connected either.

Maybe I am missing something when it comes to Zigbee. I have no problem with Z-Wave devices, getting them connected.

I am using the ZigBee 4.0.8.0 Plugin. Tried the Beta as well. No difference.

I do have the drivers installed for the HUSBZB-1 stick.

This is of no help to your current situation, but the "free" HS4 support for Zigbee is severely lacking.

I have a dozen Aqara devices around my house, yes, they are full Zigbee 3.0 compliant, are dirt cheap (compared to Z-wave) and the battery lasts over a year. The key is using a plugin that supports them, most of us are running the JowiHue plugin with the ConBeeII USB (or raspberry pi) hardware controller.

I am using the Aqara sensors all over the house, they work perfectly with the Jowihue pi and a raspbee zigbee hub. I'm not saying you should switch, I'm just saying they work. Contact HS support to see if they can add them.

I buy them from aliexpess.com for quite a bit less BTW.

When I weighed my options between Hubitat, HA, Homeseer, etc...one area I overlooked was the cost of good plugins vs the "free" plugins.

          Thanks for the heads up.

Ok, so if I buy these two items:
            https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PZ7ZHG5
            https://shop.homeseer.com/products/w...plugin-for-hs4

I should be good to go?

The JowiHue author is very responsive in terms of new device support.

Never bought from AliExpress before. Do you have a preferred buyer for Aqara devices?

AliExpress and GearBest will always have the best prices, shipping can take a few weeks but it's free.

Alright. So here is an update:

                      1. Got the Conbee II plugged into the Windows 10 PC running Homeseer Pro. That was pretty much plug an play.
                      2. Downloaded JowiHue, but quickly realized I needed deConz in order to act as the software bridge for JowiHue.
                      3. Got deConz downloaded, used the built-in Phoscon App to connect the Aqara sensor to the Conbee.
                      4. Pointed JowiHue to the deConz software running on the localhost.
                      5. Everything works as expected.

Right now, I'm battling a signal issue with where I want to place my one and only (for now) Aqara. Heading to AliExpress to purchase more sensors and repeaters now that I got this resolved. Thanks everyone.

Easy fix for while waiting for your other goodies: IKEA plugs. Their $10 plugs are Zigbee repeaters, I grabbed a handful for holiday lights this past Xmas.

dpslusser I use a Philips white dimmable bulb at the other end of the house in a closet as a repeater. Works great.

Be careful, lots of the cheap zigbee bulbs and other plug in devices sold on aliexpress and other similar sites are NOT repeaters. They will work just fine for zigbee but will not repeat.
