      +1, Congratulations to the Winner!

On the other hand is there any insight on the next generation of HomeSeer boxes come armed with serious IO like RS 232/485 plus what they already have?...
      • There is some brother dev here who is working on a ModbusSeer plug-in : https://shop.homeseer.com/products/s...f5a8d8d1&_ss=r
      • There is still serious tech new and old which use those IOs...TVs, AMP...etc
      • The incentive to capture the market of the would be D.I.Y/er, if the device had the fire under the berry..."big boy toys"

I agree Modbus is the protocol to go. I agree it is a good initiative that a new Modbus plugin is written. However porting of the current Modbus plugin would be more efficient. I dis a lot of beta testing for the current plugin and I'am aware that a lot of development is needed to fulfill all use cases.

I prefer boxes with a lot of RJ45 ports

If interested in the refurbished market for a controller Google the Dell Embedded Box PC 5000 or the Dell Edge Gateway 3000

Our flagship controller (HomeTroller PRO) includes (2) RS232 ports so perhaps that would be the better box for you? Obviously, you can also source your own box and simply install HS4 onto it.

                  My bad! indeed...

I never checked it out and back in the days I was heavily obsessed with rack servers (purely for media) that I missed it and not to mention this Modbus thing has grown on me that I could do with some of it...

Else, thanks for pointing that out.

                    no problem.

It's also work noting that this product will add an RS232 port to a HomeTroller Plus: https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Conv.../dp/B0007T27H8

I use it to power an old WGL W800 interface on my HomeTroller Plus. Works fine.

Those are the ones I currently use for the Monoprice 6 zone Amp and always used for the X 10 interface. Yes, they work well but as the system grows for the demand for more the serial port numbers swap places on reboots (not a HomeSeer code fault but the host system)

On low powered devices like the R Pi you have to tweak the code (not my field) in the host to make them stay with their port numbers which sometimes a hit and miss....(https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/v...c.php?t=244827 ) So as you can see to the average Joe, it's not that friendly...

For a dedicated machine, this is woven into the architecture : https://premioinc.com/blogs/blog/ser...rts-comparison
