    Brultech GEM options

Ok so I had my post up about my high electric bill and reached out to Brultech to get a price list. They said they are on back order for wifi/ethernet adapters...

so ... is DB9 good enough? I have a 50ft db9 cable that will reach from my HS box to the electrical panel as I used that cable when I had brultech 1240s that I never really setup.

What are you using and why as if db9 is good enough, was wifi/ethernet adapter used due to wifi allowing placement of unit far away from HS?

or should I just order it with wifi/ethernet now and they will ship it all and adapter when it comes in stock...
    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Yes, serial is more than adequate. I have a GEM with serial connection using the btmon.py python script which sends the data to a local EMonCMS instance, which sends the data via MQTT to HS.

well I opened the bag and I have 15 total....
              waiting on reply email....

going to google...anyone who has installef a gem..
              * which way does ct go in reference to breaker
              * for 240v use 2x micro cts...gotta see how that goes.

Do you mean which way round does the CT go on the wire? If so it doesn't much matter, you can invert the phase in the software.

I'm not in the US, but my understanding is that you put one CT on each leg of the split feed.

All this is explained fairly clearly in the manuals, though you may have to read them more than once.

                  ok dummy question here..

i got all my cts for breakers, read manual and understand what I have to do now..

so last general question..I did not get the split cts to monitor power coming in... 200a servvice.. I do have room on the gem for them ( then full)

but I also have an aeonlabs unit with 2 split cts and monitor that... is it worth the money to buy 2 split cts from brultech and keep the gem doing it all?

yall have been helpful. getting ready to install within next few days....
