    Smart Plug

Can anyone point me at a z-wave plug that senses & reports a plugged in device's on/off status? For example, if I have light plugged into the plug, I would be able to tell if the light is on or off. I don't necessarily want to be able to turn the plug on or off, just get the status of the device plugged into it.

    You'll want something like this:

It will have current monitoring, so if you see watts > 0 then the light is on.

Thanks. I'm going to give that a try.

I have several of the Zooz ZEN04 plugs. Since I've only had them for about a month or so, I cannot say much about them.

I just got a ZEN04 with firmware 1.20. The Volts device doesn't update. It remains 0 volts. The other devices (kW Hours, Watts, Amperes) update just fine. Any reason why Volts isn't updating for mine? I have the ZEN15, and its Volts device updates fine. But not for my ZEN04.

The voltage on all of mine are updating. I've attached a screenshot of the info for one of them but I'm still on 1.10.

The Node Information for my ZEN04 looks like yours, except my ZEN04 has firmware 1.20 while yours has 1.10. All the child devices except for Volts updates okay. When I poll, the Volts remains 0. I'm using HS4 version 4.2.15.0 (Windows). I use the ZEN15, which works great for me (a few years ago, it wasn't working so well, and Zooz actually sent HomeSeer a ZEN15, and HomeSeer provided a fix). I was thinking of getting a ZEN15, since my other ZEN15's work fine, but I wanted the form factor of the ZEN04 for my particular use case. Not sure if I want to go through HomeSeer and Zoom support for this ZEN04 issue... Granted, volts should be around 120V, so it's the least interesting parameter.... So, other option is to just return this device...

When I added the ZEN04, I selected “Add/Include a Node”. Maybe I should have chosen “Add/Include a Node Non Secure”? Coz - did you add yours non secure?

This may not be applicable but I had a similar problem with my AEON Labs Smart Switch 6. It reported everything but voltage. Once I set the Volts child device to poll every 5 mins the voltage started reporting and ever since. Hope this helps

I think I originally added them in secure mode then uninstalled and added them back as non secure. I don't know if secure mode caused a problem with these devices but it did with my ZSE40 700. After my issue with the ZSE40 700's I removed and reinstalled most of my devices that were in secure mode to non secure mode.

Good idea. Worth a try for randman's issue. I wonder if the voltage reporting would stick if it was reverted back to its initial setting.

I excluded the ZEN04. I added it back in using non-secure mode. Didn't help. I still get 0 for Volts. Polling doesn't help either.

Next week I will try updating the firmware on one of mine to see what happens. Might be around the middle of the week.

I checked in the Zooz website. The latest firmware is what I have: 1.20. I wonder if it's possible to downgrade?

I updated this morning to 1.20 and still have a voltage reading. I uninstalled the device and re added it and still have a voltage reading. I don't know how valid my test is since the device was already installed and working with 1.10 before I upgraded the firmware.

You will need to open a case with zooz after you register your device and ask to get the 1.10 firmware. It is not something they have listed. I let zooz know what I was doing and asked for 1.10 just in case something went south. I was told they will get it to me, but at this point... I don't need it.
