HEATIT ZWave Thermostat KWH not updating

I have three of these HEATIT Zwave Thermostat underfloor heating controllers with firmware v1.8. They include a KWH meter reported by the ZWave plugin as being Command Class V4. They were working fine for years. At some point in 2021 this feature stopped being updated by HS. I have deleted the feature, rescanned the device and the feature is recreated. However, if I poll the device this feature times out with the message (plugin reports timeout before result). I am on the last version of the legacy plugin 3.0.10.0 - but did not really want to take the plunge and upgrade to the whole new Z-Wave plugin paradigm unless it is really going to fix this issue which has clearly been around for a long time.

Anyone seen this kind of issue and know if there is a solution?

Upgrade to ZWave Plugin v4 and whilst that has been smooth - it has not solved the problem. If I use the ZWave plugin to poll the device it works on all the features except the KWH. Frustrating as it was working upto January 2022. Anyone got one of these devices that is working or has an idea?
