Bali Blinds: One Remote for Two Shades

I have two shades that we always set to the same level. Since the Standard Remote for one of those two shades broke (they are so flimsy) I decided to use a spare Plus Remote which allows controlling multiple shades at the same time. However, after resetting the shades and controller multiple times and going through the process in the manual I still can't get this to work. I can control the shades via HS. When I press the buttons on the remote I can also see how the scene number and the time changes in HS. However, the remote doesn't control the shades. Based on the LEDs and jogging of the shades the pairing between the shades and remote worked but again, it doesn't do anything when I press buttons on the remote.

What I have realized is that I only have 2 z-wave nodes. I should have 3 nodes (2 for the shades and one for the remote). I start to suspect that the Bali z-wave somehow can't handle home automation integration AND controlling two shades with one remote so it keeps on messing up the z-wave nodes. That's pure speculation. Has anybody tried this and was successful?

I have those same remotes but did not get Bali shades. These are resold by various places. We ended up with 1 of the square ones, 2 of the ones in the center of the cover, and one of the right hand remote which can handle various shades. I have the blinds all in HomeSeer (all 3 of them) and all the remotes in as well. I use the small remote at my desk to turn things on/off. I get long press and short press on both buttons. 2 of the shades are associated with 1 of the rectangular remotes and the other is associated with the other rectangular remote. They are also all associated with the multi remote. Customer Service on the back of the booklet is great!

I followed the instructions on page 43 of the booklet to first associate the shades with HomeSeer and then pair them with remotes.

Note, I think the shades are the same, just bought from different places under different brand names.

I have two pairs of Bali shades that work just fine with HomeSeer and the plus remote. Out of the box, normally you'd have to unpair the provided remote if they are paired, factory reset the remote, add the shades and remote to HomeSeer, then re-pair the remote. I don't know if you can pair multiple remotes to the same shade, but you said your original remote was broken, so I don't know if that would need to be unpaired first before adding the new one. You might have to factory reset the shade and start the process all over if nothing else works. If you go this route, then you can follow all the pairing steps detailed in the manual.

Thank you all for the responses. Considering that this worked for you I tried it again. This time I excluded one of the shades twice and one of the shades 3 times.

For the first shade I got the same output in the status window. Both of them said the same thing (except for the .nodes file which had a different name). To my surprise, both times it said
          "Please wait...
Activate the 'Remove from Network' function on the device...
Activate the 'Remove from Network' function on the device...

I expected that the second time it would say something like node not found.

For the second shade I got a much longer message about reloading node information, listing the node that was removed (121), Number of device nodes to be created/added = 4, one of those 4 being node 119 which was the node number for both the remote and that second shade, and some other stuff. I didn't get any of those messages for the first shade. So then I excluded that same shade again with a similar message. Then I excluded it 2 more times. For those exclusions I then got the same message as for the first shade. So the strange thing here is that when I looked up the node under device->Z-wave->manage it showed 119 for both the second shade and the remote. But during the exclusion process for the second shade it said it removed 121 which is what I would have expected but is inconsistent.

Anyways, after excluding it multiple times and resetting the remote and two shades and reprogramming everything it worked.

If somebody runs into similar issues, this is what I got when I excluded the 2nd shade the first time:
