    Belkin/Matter Support

Of course, that's all contingent on companies actually deciding to support Matter; without universal buy-in, it runs the risk of becoming yet another competing standard, creating more chaos instead of bringing order.

With the tech industry expediently shedding it's skin, one has to wonder how much matter matters to the tech industry...

This is so true. Does matter really matter. It seems only to matter to those companies with applications that can't integrate with others. I guess we shall see how this pans out.

            LOL, I like that one...
Rupp I believe to remember that HS said it will support matter. Is this still a matter of fact?

Belkin's announcement only solidifies the need for systems like HomeSeer to bridge the gaps and glue technology and devices together. The fact that I can use a button on a Z-Wave controller to turn on and off Z-Wave, Zigbee, and WiFi devices with one press says a lot.

Yes, HST has already said they will support matter.

I am aware of that statement. But Belkin did take a step or two back. And Rupp said "Does matter really matter. It seems only to matter to those companies with applications that can't integrate with others." That kind of sounds like HS switched to a wait and see approach. Hence my question to Rupp. It wouldn't be the first time HS changes course. I do appreciate them communicating with the community and getting the opinion of the community, though, even if plans change. Having said that, there are some heavyweight companies behind matter so I think it will become quite relevant and therefore supported by HS.

For those wringing their hands over what a company like Belkin does... why? Why should we as customers care?

You're acting like the Matter device market is already established and is about to collapse because of companies pulling out of it. The reality is the market doesn't even exist yet. There is no plethora of products across multiple categories.

If Matter was never announced to begin with, where would you be today? That's right, going on with your home automation plans, whatever they may be.
