Trigger Alexa routine

Is there a way to trigger a routine or announce something from HS. What I would like to have happen is when the garage door sensor is opened on garbage day to have Alexa remind me to take out the garbage can.

I use 3 methods for TTS:

1. Android tablets running HSTouch
2. Sonos speakers and the Sonos4 plugin in
3. Alexa using jon00's voice monkey app

Voice Monkey allows you do to the TTS announcements without adding hardware which option 1 & 2 above need.

I use voicemonkey. I think there is a plug in. I use the url direct method. This will send a voice message to selected echos. Does not trigger routines, but you can do that using node-red.

I also use Node-red for voice and routines. It works very well.

If you go the Node-Red route, see this write-up. When you look for an Alexa control, use the most current one. It may be called cake bake or applestrudle.

Thanks for all the input I got it working and better yet now I won't forget to take out the garbage anymore.
