How to create repeating but limited event?

    Greetings,

I have an event I have created (see below) that attempts to lock a door overnight repeatedly. The problem is that if it can't it repeats the attempts indefinitely looping it to the point it disables homeseer from running other events (see error message pictured below).

How could I change this event to run repeatedly, but for a limited number of times and then fail and send out an email?

    Thank you.

Maybe try using a counter or timer. Add an action to increment a counter by one and then add a condition in your event that will stop the event from triggering after X attempts. Then have another event to reset the counter after a specific amount of time (2 hours??)

Why the 10s delay to lock? "For at least" will trigger every second that the condition is true, triggering 10 times before the "lock" command is sent and possibly flood the system. Try getting rid of the delay or set "Cannot re-run for 10 minutes"

Sorry, I didn't review your event very well….I agree with Kevb Your event will trigger every second. I would agree, set a “Cannot re-run for 10 minutes” instead.
