In my z-wave network on HS4 I often get the same message repeated numberous times:
I guess that if too many devices keep doing this the network could get clogged. What would be the cause for this, and more interesting, how to fix it?

The device may be reporting a value change at the 3rd or 4th decimal point. Some Z-Wave device have a parameter to adjust the reporting based on a percentage of change. While the logging may slow down your HS system, it's the burst of Z-Wave messages on the network I'd be concerned with."if I have seen further [than others], it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." --Sir Isaac Newton (1675)

Yes, that could be, as this mostly happens to temperature sensors. I'll have a look at the settings.
