I've connected the motion sensors to the Ocelot, then use relays on the Ocelot Secu16 to trip the alarm. That way you don't lose the speed of reaction when switching lights.

The only down side is that it ties up some relays, and you need to be sure that the Ocelot is OK if there is a loss of power, otherwise the alarm would not be able to recognise motion if the power is cut.

Over on the ADI board there have been some posts about putting the sensors in parallel, but it seems to be unreliable.

    Hi,
I built a small panel with DPDT relays on it. I run the motion sensor in series with the relay coil. Then I use one set of contacts for the alarm system and the other set for home automation.

Instead of using a parallel wiring you can use this:
Most motion sensors can be wired as NO or NF, the same relay being used as an inversor.
You can use the NF for your alarm panel, and the NO for Ocelot if you share the power supply for both.

I'll give the parallel configuration a try. I didn't want to route through the alarm panel because of the delay.

I think you might be able to parallel your motion sensors to both units, especially if our alarm panel operates on 12Volts. Otherwise you will need to set the inputs on the Ocelot to properly detect the change. This will give you back the relays on your alarm panel for other use.

I don't have an alarm panel, so I cant test this but it ought to work.

What I did was have the motion detectors connected just to the alarm panel. Then I had my alarm company program some output relays to turn on when motion is detected. My alarm panel has 10 programmable relay outputs so I used some of those outputs (not the motion detectors themselves) to communicate motion to HS through an Ocelot. The relay outputs are active whether the alarm system is armed or not. Would your alarm panel have this capability?

    Sharing motion sensors

I have several hardwired motion sensors that are connect to HS through an Ocelot. I use these for turning lights on and off. I just bought an HAI Omnipro II, primarily for security, and would like to share these motion sensors between the Omni and HS. Can the connections just be run in parallel, or is there some isloation circuitry that I need to use?

    Thanks,
    Dennis
