New to infrared, need advice...

I've used HS for years, and have never had a use for automating infrared to control devices. The time has come...

I'm looking for advice on options for hw. I just want to be able to send IR commands (that I assume I learn into HS somehow)...

Seems pretty basic, but I have no clue what my options are...

any advice, lessons learned etc. always appreciated.

The 2 most popular options are the USB-UIRT and the Ocelot. Both are very good IR devices both have free HS 1.7 plugins the Ocelot is more expandable for other uses. Holler if you need more information.

The ocelot seems pretty cool, but I think the price of the USB-IRT will win out in the end...
