You will want to check out Winamp Web Interface (WAWI) at
      http://www.flippet.org/wawi/index.shtml

      This is what I use.

The SliMP3 from SlimDevices is what I use. It integrates with Homeseer nicely.

One of the MP3 servers I use is the SlimServer from the Slim Devices folks. That way I can serve my entire MP3 collection over both my in-house Intranet and the Internet. When I travel I take my laptop and always stay in a hotel that has free high-speed Internet (most do now days) and a pair of headphones. Works like a charm and it is free!
Around the house I use my Audiotron and a Rio Digital Audio Receiver I snagged off of ebay for $40.00 about a year ago.

mcsMusic plugin has the slimp3 as one of the players it supports with homeseer. Control it with VR, via scripting or a web interface. It also supports virtual devices for status, playlists, and events.
