Do I understand this correctly ?

what do I do (configure) to have HS respond to commands in an email ? Many commands ?

...and I will be able to send a variety of commands and execute events via email ?

      I have missed this feature.

We are not talking about the email trigger to a single event type setup.

Please fill me in on how I can have HS to this.

      Thanks

I am not sure that I understand your question.....but here is some reading material on setting up HS to handle triggers by email

        http://www.homeseer.com/products/hom...p/HomeSeer.htm

        look at sections

I think there is another level possible here.

I understand the "HS email recieved" triggers event.(see below)

I was looking for an email received from a specific address and the subject line or body has command in it that triggers event

          i.e.
          "exeX10:A14,On
          in the subject field"

or any other string ... or event ...? that is able to trigger an event. Is this supported ?

          Thanks.

          From Help Section:
In the trigger dialog, under type, select EMAIL reception. Enter the address of the person you wish to check for. This would be the return address. For example, if you would like a light to go on whenever your wife sends you mail from work and her email address at work is "karen@homeseer.com", enter "karen@homeseer.com". Only email from her will trigger the event. If you want the event to trigger whenever you get ANY email, check the box labeled all addresses.

I just tried the above string and it works just fine. The only problem is I believe it works no matter who sends the email. Is this true?

HS reads every email without an event setup ?

How is yours setup to do this ?

              Thanks

The above X10 command doesn't need an event. It's simply an X10 command.

                  Lets see,

just checked it out. sent email to myself with
exeX10:A14 in the email subject line

                  nothing.

Email checked every 2 minutes, no action taken.

Rupp , you are pulling my leg

You left the device command off. Its exeX10:A14,On

This turns on device A14 which is a lamp in my case. It is not an event.

Trying to understand I put the string

                      exeX10:A14,On

in the subject line of an email and sent it to myself.

HS received the email says so in the HS log... but device A14 stayed off.

I do not have any events defined for this event.

Is this how yours works ?

                      Thanks in advance

I have Outlook express automatically startup when my system is started. I set up OE to check for new mail every 5 minutes. In HS, my mail options are set to use MAPI and to check for new mail every 5 minutes that's all. Now if new mail comes in with a command like exeX10:A14,On
in the subject line it executes the command.

See the help file for the event to set up in order to process the command:

My log shows email received no matter what I put in the subject line but...

exeX10:A14,On does nothing with the a14 lamp
                            however,
execX10:A14,On will turn on the A14 lamp

Let me check it out .

                              exec was the key.
                              execX10:A14,On

YES it works ..... does this work on all HS servers?

                              Thanks.
