Installing HomeSeer on a backup drive

Having lost data through hard drive crash in the past
I like to have a backup my server drive
This consists of a mirror of the working drive
After installing HomeSeer on the backup drive I got the registration screen
I entered my code and it was accepted
Now I can’t get HomeSeer to run
I suspect I may be falling foul of anti pirate protection.
Could someone confirm this and if so what is your advice for backing up the
    HomeSeer system
    Thanks
    David

why don't you just back it up and not install it?

Because the only way to be certain it is going to work is to try it

I think he meant instead of installing all your programs on the backup disk, image / copy / backup your main drive to your backup drive, then remove the main drive and make sure you can run from it.

I have never been successful in doing that with XP

I use DriveImage to clone my 40GB drive to an identical 40GB drive. Then I swap them out to try and make sure. Homeseer always start no problem.

                David,

                You're welcome.

I'm using these removable HD racks which come in handy. Both drives are on these racks and I can easily run either one without opening up the case. They can stay in the computer and I only power on the backup drive for DriveImage.

This is working great for me and I backup the entire drive every month.
