    Sound Card Hiss

My sound card puts out a slight hiss when nothing is playing. If I mute it the hiss stops.
Does anyone have any sugestions as to what may be the cause.

Check your "Line Input" volume, maybe even try muting it.

Hey, my 200th post, now only over 9800 to catch up to Rupp!

This is what I use from Radio Shack $15.99:

When get hiss, the external volume control on the speakers is too high and the Master Volume or Wave volume in the Windows volume control is too low.

I have found ground loop isolators are usually used to quiet hums.
