Working on my web interface and have a Photoshop question ...

How do you copy a layer in photoshop (7) and make it a new image?

Two quick ways of doing that:

One is go to the Image menu and select Duplicate. This will make a copy of all layers, then just delete those you don't need.

The other is with the layer you want selected, select all (ctrl-A), copy, (ctrl-C), new (ctrl-N), paste (ctrl-V).

The last step to flatten the layers into one is Ctrl+Shift+E.

PAge 128 of the manual explains it much better than I could.... See that.
