What is the best night camera for nursery?

I am new to home automation and want to start with a camera in my nursery. It needs to be able to see in the dark and I would prefer it have audio as well. I think I want a network camera so I'll be able to check it on the internet, but I guess that's not an absolute requirement. Finally, I don't want to pay an arm and a leg so hopefully something around/under $200-$300. What's my best option?

Here's a separate but related question: if I get a network camera (or several cameras), can I send the video feed(s) to a TV by combining a modulator with some type of VGA to RCA converter?

Mobotix M10-D night ... that's one of the best .... but your leg may not be enough, lol

No audio? How is that fabulous? A nursery monitor must have audio -- small infants rarely move enough to be worthwhile for video (other than just to calm your nerves that they haven't fallen out of their crib or aren't stuck between the bars) -- but they scream and cry to let you know they want something, hence.. audio.

Did I mention they need audio?

OMG. Are you kidding? That's a sweet camera for monitoring your home or business... and it qualifies for an arm, leg, and several major organs. $1200 for a nursery monitor -- and it doesn't even have audio??? You've lost your mind, man.

This guy asked for a nursery monitor that wasn't terribly expensive and has audio.

I don't have any cameras so I'm not much help, either -- but I'm interested in the answer and so far nobody's given one that remotely comes close to the original question.

A network camera sends its video via an IP network, not a video network. So there's no modulation going on there. If you have a home theater PC or something you can simply bring the video to it and have it pushed to the TV. If not, you might consider something similar in architecture -- a computer with a TV-OUT card in it.

Someone else who's actually done this might have a better explanation or a better solution, but hopefully this helps.

Of course I was kidding about the price.... but you may want to check your sources before answering with wrong facts. The Mobotix cam do have audio.

They have a very good mic and they also have a built-in speaker ! Doesn't this qualify as audio ? hmmmm ?

Whoa Dan, why don't you offer a suggestion if you don't like the ones we offered?

I did look but didn't see it. Obviously didn't look well enough. I figured for that price it had to have audio

Like I said, I don't have any suggestions because I'm in the market for the same device!

Sorry about the harshness of the post. That was soooooo 2005 of me.

I've been eyeing that geeks baby cam for a while for possible robotics use, or just using the receiver for wireless cam war driving.
