    Comfortable home humidity?

    Any of you guys know what a typical comfortable humidity should be?

    If I'm not mistaken it should ideally be around 40%.

      It depends on the temperature, and the amount of convection (ceiling fans). Heat index is a common way to specify, but it doesn't take into account flow.

        For me it is right between "Honey it's too damn hot in here" and "Holy Crap, I'm freezing" These often change, overlap and are extremely random... I have yet to figure a way to track with an event...

              Here in SO FL we find that 40% at typical mid-70's room temps is ideal, especially when compared to external humidity of 55% to 100% (typically 60%) at temps of high 80's - low 90's. I think perception of ideal humidity is somewhat of a sliding scale, base on temp and some of the factors above.
