But conversely, doesn't BrightSpeech come with a dictionary editor?

When I downloaded and installed Heather, it came with a text to speech pad. Just go to the start menu/all programs/Bright Technologies and select speech pad. You just copy any old text into the speech pad and it will speak it. You can then copy and paste some of the TTS that you have said with the current HS voice and compare the two.

Just in my opinion, Heather is the best voice I have heard to date. I have had it read full text documents and it is really impressive. The only glitch that I have found so far is that when it says "3:34 AM" it pronounces the word "am".

    Gemini,
I have demo'ed them but I can't tell if they are any better than the AT&T's from what I hear.

    Rupp,
You don't have to install anything.. they have some demo WAV files over on the right hand side of the screen that you can listen to.

As it is sapi... any app that uses speech. But, it is not so much teh quality of the voice that I wanted you to hear as the speed of execution!

    Ski,
I'm afraid to add these to my HA system. I haven't had a single problem (I probably just jinxed myself) with HS in months and I really do not want to add them to that server. If I add them to one of my laptops what other apps can I test them with?

Why not get the demo and listen for yourself. The HTML demo on the Brightspeech page does not do these voices justice.

    Ski,
Did anyone ever get a handle on the prices for the Britespeech voices?

That depends on the voice. If you look in the TTS section, you should see a reference to these dictionary files, along with instructions for their modification.

Just a quick note: The editor for Neospeech is quite buggy... but will work. (You can't listen to the voice from the editor.)

Just another note...:The Brightspeech editor is spectacular!

don't get me wrong I don't want a potty mouth HS. I just found it funny that while using a app like HS that usually gives me "Full" control that it was taken away from me.

How do I edit my dictonary? Where do I find it?

All you need to do is to edit the dictionary file, and she'll have a mouth fit for a low class bar! (If that's what you want)

Funny how I never tried that myself. Maybe I was afraid the kids would accidentally hear it.

If you still wish HomeSeer to have a "potty mouth" , try
