How do you turn on various apliances/ lights with one event?
I have a event with this in the voice comand field "(turn on)(Office Lights|Bathroom Lights|bedroom lamp|Front room lights|Heating)"
The computer hears the comand but nothing happens.
I have voice control enabled on the relavent devices.
What do I need in the devise action field?

Jim, in the 'Device action' tab of the Event that's triggered by teh voice command, you can drag 'n drop each of the devices that you want to action. Once it's dragged and appears, double click on the device entry and that will allow you to change the ON to whatever you want.

Yes but this would require an event for every appliance / light ?
How can you have one event to do it all? (like artist VR). whithin the devise properties box there is an option for voice command how do you trigger this???

your nearly there, in the voice command use something like "Run all my bits" then, as JeffCharger stated, in the second tab along the top of the event setup drag ALL the the devices yu want to change, then click each one again and set it to what you want, ie: on off dim etc, then to run it you call in or speak into your mic and say "Run all my bits" it will then switch all your devices you setup to how you want.

I think your mis-understanding him. He wants to trigger different events based on the same voice string. Or even better have one event that can tell which device to control based upon the VR string.

I know you can do it with seperate events ie.
event Kitchen_On = "Turn on kitchen lights")
event Kitchen_Off ="Turn off kitchen lights"

How would you or can you use one event that "knows" to turn on or off the lights based on the VR string?
ie event Kitchen_OnOff = "Turn On|Off the kitchen lights"

His example is more complex yet by wanting one event that knows which device to control based upon the VR string.

event Lights_Control = "Turn ON|OFF the kitchen|Living room lights"

I don't know how you can do that with one event tho.

Even easier then... use Alex Kurtz scripts, they create the events and all the voice command you want.

Turn on kitchen light, turn off kitchen light etc etc

The Alex Kurtz scripts have had a recent modification (in the last month or 3) for some reason - I can't remember off hand. A search for AK scripts should turn up the lastest info.

Rich did an update to the script to allow it's function on 1.7.
