    Longest uptime?

How about a contest to see who achieves the longest uptime? I'm at 60 days and counting:

If you search the old archives here - you may find my posting showing my HS 1.6 or 1.7 ran for something like 4 or 5 months before a forced shutdown.

MS Windows XP runs very reliably *if* there's no use of email or browser or other apps that have memory leaks.

My SageTV PC runs XP and it is rebooted perhaps once very 2 months, usually due to me fiddling.

BUT, Windows is not good when real people do real things. It's a heck of a lot better than '98 was!

I have ran on xp and 2003 server I have made about 45 days but my usual is around 30 due to I check for critical updates about every 30 days and windows has to reboot for everything.

That being said I could run allot longer but the risk is not worth it.

For the first time in months, my hs box has been up for over a week!!! yipppy!
I found some xap service running on it was crashing the box almost nightly

I ran a Vista Beta box for 60 days before I needed to move it to a new location.

I've got a linux box that's been up over a year.

As for longest uptime it very much depends upon how often you install/upgrade plugins and the such like.

It also depends on whether you allow Mr Gates to upgrade your computer automatically.

My longest was circa 21 days when we were on holiday last year. Tend to tinker too much, especially with DooMotion going though such an interesting change, or should I say transforming itself! I restart every other day.

The longest up time for my HomeSeer server was 113 days until I took it down last weekend to replace the old hardware with new hardware and consolidate it with my SageTV server. So, now it's been running for a few days and I'm shooting for a new record.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread.

It has been up for several months at a time, between instances of my taking it down

I am talking both the PC and HS. In fact I can not recall the last time it stopped by itself for any reason.

I'm on day six (after an accidental restart) at the minute without any problems, surprising really as it's a very old computer (1.2GHz/128Mb RAM) that I bought that already had a very hard life in an office somewhere, i'm running all my USB hard drives 9network shared), printers, HomeSeer, Winamp Web Interface, Windows Media Connect, Perl and a load more.

I'm expecting the Power Supply to give up the ghost first, has anyone got any horror stories about computers being on 24x7 and then setting on fire/going up in smoke?

I have also run for 1 -2 months. Since I have Automatic Windows updates and McAfee automatic updates turned ON, I have to shut down at least once a month to update my system! Homeseer is rock solid as far as I am concerned!
