    Home Seer locking up

I have been running HS for over 4 years now with no stability issues EVER. Recently, however, I find that Internet Explorer has been locking up quite frequently.

This ONLY happens if I have HS running, and even stranger if IE locks up tight (Typical white screen that you cant get rid of, even by trying to end task it), if I close HS, it releases and the system is back to normal. Sometimes HS has to be end tasked as well to get control of the system back.

I have never had anything like this before with HS and do not know where to begin to look. This looks pretty specialized, so I dont know if anyone has had something similar to this happen, but I didnt think it would hurt to at least ask.

I have absolutely NO virus's, BHO's or adaware on this sytem, and am 99% confident of that.

I am running XP with all updates except SP2, 3.1 Ghz Machine with 768 MB ram. HS Version 1.7.0 and all IE service packs an patches.

This is a 2 month old install of XP.

Nothing in the log of HS shows any problems, or hung scripts. I am thinking it may be some improper reg value or something, but I am drawing at straws here.

    Any help is appreceiated.

    John,
Do you have any scripts that use the IE object to "scape pages"?

Yes, actually I do have a couple of them. I thought of that first. However, I have not set up anything new as far as scraping pages in the past 6-12 months, and this problam is a new one for me in the past week or two. I just use the poor man's weather script to pull info in, as well as a weather script to get temperatures from various cities, but that one is "on demand" and not scheduled as reccuring.

I do not see any of these firing that coincides with the lockup's though.

Did you recently install the newest IE security patch? Could this be the problem?

No I havent installed any patches recently. THis is such an unusual problem, that I am lost at where to start looking for it.

I am not sure if the fault is IE, or HS. I wish there was a way to do a COMPLETE reinstall of IE. I will try re-installing HS in a few days if I cant determine what else could be causing it.

Ok, I installed Netscape 7.2 on the HS machine, and ran through all sorts of web pages over and over to test it. So far no problems. So it appears that is is something that IE and HS are sharing causing the problem.

That narrows it down, but what next?! Argh....

Maby I will just stick with NS on the HS machine....
