    Powerlinc USB: Unknown device found

I recently upgraded to a Powerlinc USB to improve my HomeSeer/X10 experience ...

    Two observations:

    1. the following error "Powerlinc USB: Unknown device found" occurs several times each time I boot HomeSeer.

    2. I now receive a lot of "~X10 Received~!~C (?) Extended 142 56" whereas previously with the CM11A I had none. I've checked for noise on the powerline and it is still quite low ~ 07m on my analyzer.

Any suggestions from the board on these items?

    Thanks in advance,

    dp

For what its worth, here is what the extended response means. I really doubt it is noise, because the message makes too much sense.

The message is a OUTPUT STATUS ACK, which would normally be a response to the REQUEST OUTPUT STATUS function (possibly issued by the PowerLinc USB?).

    Whatever the device is, it:
    1) Responds to extended commands (Leviton?),
    2) Claims it is controlling a lamp,
    3) Claims that a lamp is connected,
    4) Claims the lamp is dimmed to level 14 (out of 63), and
    5) It is on House-code 'C'.

Good detective work Rocco - it would appear that for whatever reason - whenever I dim that Leviton light (the only one I own) it responds with the extended messages that the Powerlinc does not like or understand. Not sure why this is just yet - but I can go debug some more and report back.

Any one on the board know why Homeseer reports those errors on the Powerlinc when it boots?

      Thanks,

        Hi DP
I have the same error come up whe HS boots. I think the new plugin sees another device (USB) on the same channel (I have a scanner) an it does not recognise it. My powerlink runs ok with the exception of that lone error message

I think Mike is correct. I noticed the errors in the log when I connected a USB to serial adapter, with a Lynx-10 on the other end.

Any one having issues where all of a sudden after about 4 months there usb version just stops working, homeseer sees it and so does XP the only solution I had was to replace it, atleast that worked

I had exactly that problem, and yes it was about 4 months.

I bought a new one right away, and out of curiosity after about a week, I tried the old one again. Surprise. It worked, and has continued to work fine ever since.

Conversely I have been using a Powerlinc USB for what must be coming up on two years, and I have never (knock on wood) had an issue with it.

Of course with each new Z-Wave device installed its work load gets less and less...

                  Yup, I get
"Info - PowerLinc USB Plug-in, Version 1.05" then the next line
"Error - Powerlinc USB: Unknown device found" and then finally
"Startup - PowerLinc USB initialized successfully" every time I startup.
