    Control multiple devices

I am new to homeseer and home automation and I am overwhelmed by the amount of possibilities there are, especially when combining with other equipment & plugins.

I want to control six (for now) 220V devices from homeseer. I have them all wired to my computer location, but now I need some box to do the switching. Also do I need 3 inputs coming from sensors (IR/PIR sensors with NO contacts) All need to be controlled by homeseer. I do have already a ZCU201 to control z-wave devices, but I think it can be done much cheaper then with z-wave.

    Any ideas?

    Hi there and welcome!

Its a big world out here, and there is no one answer.

If you just want to switch mains voltage devices, then appliance modules as they are called are the easy way to go.

These can be x10, bye bye standby, |Home Easy, Domia, IKEA, Zwave or others depending on your investment at the "Homeseer end".

I appreciate that you will already be facing costs, but if you can stretch to the RFXCOM 433Mhz transmitter and receivers, they will open up a whole world for you and permit the use of some very cost effective devices. (And its a dutch company ;-)) I really wish I had gone that route years ago. The levels of support are of the highest quality.

Your need for PIR devices too is easily managed by x10 or by RFXCOM, they Visonic sensors as well as x10....

Please remember too that applicance modules are just relays (switches) and do not dim lights. Lamp Modules will do dimming of non CF lamps.

Hope that is of some help....

other solutions? velleman or usb controlled power outlet

I see the rfxcom solution more for other appliances in the house wich are not wired to my computer. I have now a 10 wire cable running from PC location to several light points and sensor locations. For these I am seeking a reliable&cheap solution to control them from homeseer.

I did some researching on the internet, but I am not confidend I found the best solution yet.

What about velleman modules like vm110 combined with relay card vm129? Disadvantage (for me) is that you need to build it together into a box.

I was wondering are there more simple ways?
For example a usb controlled power outlet strip? I found one http://www.graficall.nl/Product~id~8105-Gembird-Silver-Shield-Programmable-Power-Outlet-Strip.aspx from Gembird but can that be controlled from homeseer? Or are there other possibilities around?
