    How do I log in when not connected to web

    Hi all, it's been some time since I've been on the board, way too many things taking up my time other then HS.

    Recently, I upgraded my main pc to a Mac Pro and replaced the Linksys router with a Airport Extreme (Apple also). Since then I have had trouble getting into homeseer since my shortcut was a static IP (192.168.1.101:85).

    Yesterday I moved the HS box to my bedroom so I can use it on the HDTV and currently I don't have it hooked to the network (waiting on a wireless N card I ordered). The box is running and HS is doing it's thing as normal, BUT, I can't get to any of the screens locally (getting "Page cannot be displayed) even if I use the pull downs from the log file.

    What is the proper IP to access the HS screens locally?

    Thank you,
    ~Mark

    What version of HomeSeer are you running? What port is HomeSeer running on? If it's the default port of 80 then http://localhost should work.

      It was set up for port 85 in his earlier post, so it would be:

      localhost:85

      However, Internet Exploder won't accept a port designation without http in front of it, so it has to be:

      http://localhost:85

        I think I tried that yesterday, but I am going to try it again after work. It's been some time since I tinkered at all in HS and my memory isn't what it used to be. Isn't there a config file someplace that will allow me to change some of the settings (such as port) that can be edited in something like notepad?

        BTW, I am using HS 2.X

          Yes, it's named settings.ini and it's in the config directory.

            Thanks Rupp & Tink, hopefully I can get back into HS tonight to make the changes I need to. It'll look awesome on a 26" HDTV!

                Based on the above, how do I access locally?

                Thanks,

                  I don't think you you want to bind your server to a given address.

                  gServerAddressBind=192.168.1.102
                  Change it to:
                  gServerAddressBind=0.0.0.0
                  Then http://localhost:85/conf should prompt you for login info and get you in.

                  -or-

                  https://localhost/conf should also work if you had it setup for https before.

                      Another problem with this.

                      OK, I got HS working during this thread a couple weeks ago. I HS machine is based in my bedroom and I want to access it from other pc's in the house. I've tried:

                      http://localhost:8080 (that's the port it's on now)
                      or
                      http://192.168.1.102:8080 (that's the static IP I assigned to the machine)

                      Why do I get "page cannot be displayed" error?

                      Thanks

                        Not 100% sure but you don't seem to be calling a page. You might not have setup anything as the home page. Something like http://192.168.1.102:8080/stat
                        might work

                          any reason you can't just use port 80? then http://192.169.0.2 should get you in. You can't use localhost from a different machine, localhost means the local machine

                            Nightstalker had it! When I clicked on his link: http://192.168.1.102:8080/stat it worked! Thanks NS.
