Issues with a SIIG 2-port USB to Serial Converter

I have a SIIG 2-port USB to Serial Converter, the same one that HS sells as the HS2012, though I purchased elsewhere.

Anyway, has anyone else had a problem with it being recognized as an "Unkown Device" after a reboot? I have my W800 and Ztroller connected to it, using COMs 5 & 6 respectively, and after X reboots, the ports disappear and the convertor becomes an "Unknown Device" Only a compelte shutdown (which removed power from the device) will make it become recognized again. It's as if it does not always recover gracefully from a soft reboot.

I've had it for about 4 months, and this problem just started in the last month. I'm wondering if this is typical, or if my unit's going bad.

    John,
I would suspect your USB ports before the device. I had all kinds of USB problems with my built in ports. I bought a cheap add on USB card and all my issue disappeared. It may be worth a try as these add on USB cards are cheap.

Rupp, it's on a Hometroller Series 2, so I cannot add any USB ports... Probably should've said that in the original post.

        John,
Are you sharing USB Root Hubs with any other USB devices? I wonder if the device needs more power than is available?

It's the one and only USB device connected to my Hometroller, so it should not be a power issue. I might try a different port when I get home. I cannot find the power rating on the SIIG's specs... when I get it going again I'll have to see how much of the hub's power it's using through device properties... if it's borderline, then that could be the issue.
