How are you guys filling your fountains

    Guys,
My fountain is drying up quick with all of these 95+ degree days. Have any of your guys automated adding water to your tiered fountains?

I don't know if it will work with a fountain, but I am using this for my pool. Not automated, but it keeps it from going low.

Not an automated solution either but this works great in my tiered fountain.

I have a small fountain and none of the pool type solutions would work. Ended up going with a crude brute force solution.

I use a sprinkler valve with rain8 (also operates my sprinkler system). I have a drip system pressure regulator (25psi) on the valve and run a drip tube from the value/regulator to the fountain for the fill. Using my outdoor Oregon temp/humidity sensors I estimate the evaporation rate with an equation that is adjusted by the number of fountain runtime hours (to account for water splatter). This then turns on the valve for the necessary number of seconds to keep it filled before it runs. Occasionally I have to manually adjust with extra water.

Again, this is crude but good enough for me now. If there is something better I'd like to know about it too.

I was thinking about an IR emitter/detector pair, but not sure if they work well with water.

I do what you do and just fill it with a dripper. Mine can overflow and just water the plants below so no problem. You could do a simple float switch with a ds10a a micro switch and a piece of foam.
