Anyone try the TED-1001 - Energy Monitor

Anyone try the TED-1001 - Energy Monitor? How is it with HSPro or HSTouch? Does it kill X!0 communictions? Any Z-Wave issues? Thanks,

All of the TED units kill X10 signals. If you want one that works with X10 check out the Brutech energy monitors.

No, Insteon is fine with TED, I have a very reliable Insteon network with 101 devices and TED works great.

I would also recommend the Brultech.

I'm finishing my basement. Should I route some Cat5 between the electric panel and my router? 1 or 2?

Do you know if the TED or Brultech will be IP enable anytime if it's not already the case?

Brultech is IP enabled. You mount the Brultech device next to your power panel. It connects via RS232 to a serial to ethernet convertor that is mounted nearby. You then run an ethernet (cat5) cable from there to your router.

There is also a wireless (zigbee) approach. The Brultech device can be ordered with a zigbee radio built into it. The radio talks to a unit that is connected to (and can be located near) your router via ethernet cable.

I do have the TED working with X10 but I had to but it on an isolated circuit with filters between it and the mains of the house.
Also added a number of filters around the house to clear up other nagging issues.
Been working good now for about 6 months.
Actujally have 2 of the TEDs on two different circuits setup same way.
If I was buying new, I would look at the other options, but I already had them.
Go ahead and set up it up with the different options and you should be good to go.

One thing if I was doing the house over was I believe Cutler Hammer used to have controllable Panels where you could control breakers etc which would be neat.

                Good luck with your project.
