    out of the blue issues

i have an insteon 2414u/homeseer 2.4.0.6 system that has been working great for years

now two days ago it will not control any of the devices. i am still able to control the devices via the remotelinc.

i have tried another 2414u and it failed also

system consists of togglelinc & switchlinc switches and lamplinc 2456D3

i have removed and resinstalled all software and also installed on a new pc running xp with same results.
i have reset the devices to factory default and sometimes i can tap-add and sometimes it is unable to read config after it adds.
even though it is sucessfull tap-adding the device can not be controlled, polled, or links read.
    any suggestions or solutions?

Are there any errors in the HomeSeer log file when HS starts up? Is the sdm.exe see the interface?

everything seems to be working as it should. sdm is running and sees the 2414 and i have done a reset a few times and watch the status in sdm (version 1.01.138.308)

no errors at all on startup.

i get alot of this or it adds the device and then fails polling or wont control it at all.

1/7/2010 5:53:20 PM - Insteon - Tap-add mode failed to add the device at address 0F.77.1D because: The device properties could not be read. Communication failure. The device was not added.

These errors indicate com issues. Have you added anything new to your system over the last few days that may be flooding you powerline with noise? ie new laptop, new appliance, etc?

that is what i was thinking also so i went around looking for new things that were plugged in

it actually started happening when i removed the lamplincs that were connected to christmas lights / trees. the next day nothing worked.

i have 4 access points installed

Put those lamplincs back in. They act as repeaters so they could be the difference.

Maybe you could move an access point to the christmas tree outlet or elsewhere to get better results. You may also want to re-linc them to make sure the RF is linked properly.
