Here we go!!

I have placed all my HSTouch exes on the dektop in a folder called hstouch - and everything runs from there..

I copy that folder down from my SAN, so rebuilds are not a problem, you might want to skip or amend that step!

The joggler is working like a charm - its been up for over 2 days now with out any problems, as has HSTouch...

Ive had to paste it - as i cannot add attachments for some reason!

Jim,

Do you have flash running in HSTouch on your Joggler HSTouch configuration? I have an Ubuntu 11.04 custom build running; very impressive.

Relating to sound; I can crank it up a bit with 11.04 and it seems way louder than the stock Joggler volume.

Last night tested a current version of Android / HSTouch on the Joggler. Very snappy. But I still prefer my wintel HSTouch screens.

RDP via TSClient to W2003 terminal services is also very snappy; much more than the Chumby.

Starting to play with the multiple OS boot thing on the Joggler.

The EFI boot is not well documented; and I'll probably end up bricking my Joggler; but it does look like you can do the multiOS thing all via a memory stick.

I like to listen to the radio stations on the original Joggler OS.

Last week we kept having power outages; dinging my testing a bit.

I am not testing with the wireless; in fact most likely removing the wireless dongle inside of the Joggler and replacing it maybe with a small USB hub, memory, keyboard wireless dongle.

to be honest pete, I've not tried flash, sound does work fine for me, but not for hstouch. can you get the voices working in hstouch ok?

Are you talking about TTS? If so check the linux client thread - I think there is a mismatch between the SDL libraries and the speech coming out of HS (something about sampling frequencies being different IIRC). Aswell for me the filesystem seems to go into some type of protected mode after a long period of uptime (can't deploy any projects after a couple of hours of uptime) so the wave files would just error as it needs to write them to the file system...

Two things here:

1 - TTS on Linux
2 - HSTouch audio

TTS works fine although there are only "free" generic TTS voice fonts and there is no Linux speaker.exe program that I know that works; unless someone else has tried working the speaker.exe file in the Linux mono/sdl configurations.

As Adam mentions above HSTouch audio did work. My testing with the seagate dockstar only provided cartoon sounding wave TTS sounds; which I preferred not to listen to; and I could never duplicate how I got it to run trying a few of the SDL audio configurations.

Maybe if we got the specific SDL libraries that Rich utilized for his build; it could work.

Another way to get TTS is just to copy over the wave file via the network and play it back when its talking. IE: like damage demonstrated his TTS stuff with XPL. This is really similiar to the way that HSTouch does it. It would be just a program watching for the wave file; then while live; playing back anything it sees in a directory. Note that this is NOT TTS but rather just playing back recorded wave sounds which is all that HSTouch is doing and way different than what the speaker.exe is doing. I don't typically use the HSTouch screens for sound zones. The HSTouch screen in the garage though plays back TTS in "french" via a french voice font via the speaker.exe running. I have a separate autonomous HS sound setup with a separate switch and amplifier just for the garage; but typically off that I use to play back music (loudly) while I "play" with my automobiles.

BTW the most current version of Android running on the Joggler is probably snappier than the Linux Mono/SDL version of HSTouch. You can do a multiboot boot of the Joggler OS, Android, Ubuntu 10.10 (with HSTouch) say using the EFI multiboot custom written "stuff"; then play with even more Linux based HSTouch screen stuff.
